Signed from Worthing in August 2021, where he had stood out in the Isthmian League, young midfielder Aguiar came with a reputation as a central midfielder with an eye for goal. He showed real talent in a loan spell at Chippenham where he scored seven in thirteen appearances, leading to a return to SN1 and a run of games in February where he looked very promising, scoring twice in a 5-0 win at Walsall. By the end of the season, Aguiar had made sixteen league appearances in addition to his productive loan spell - a successful first season of development.
Over the summer of 2022, Aguiar was handed a new three year contract, a sign of Town’s hierarchy having confidence in him developing and expectation of him becoming a valuable asset in the future. Strangely, this confidence did not seem to be shared by either of the management teams in place during the season, as Town brought in a glut of similar players in Ronan Darcy, Jake Cain and George McEachran rather than giving Aguiar chances, and he made only one start in the league all season and only seven further substitute appearances, none of which came after early November. In January, he was loaned out to Torquay, where he failed to impress and returned to Town a month later.
With two years remaining on his contract, there was time for Aguiar to come good at Town, but it felt like a season wasted at the end of the 22/23 season.
A season long loan move back to Worthing ahead of the 2023/24 season may have looked like a step down, but they had been promoted to the National League South since he’d departed, so there was some developmental sense in the move. Back in familiar territory, Aguar thrived, scoring eleven goals in 25 appearances across the first half of the season and impressing enough to be recalled to SN1 at the start of the January transfer window. Aguiar would no doubt have been frustrated then that he made only three substitute appearances in the following eight weeks before he was handed his first start against Tranmere at the end of February. The start came in a slightly unfamiliar deeper lying midfield role alongside Dawson Devoy with Saidou Khan and George McEachran both unavailable. Despite a makeshift midfield, Town triumphed 3-1 and Aguiar was retained for the next game against Harrogate, in which he was substituted at half time despite a reasonably positive first 45.
After a couple of games as an unused sub, Aguiar was handed three consecutive starts in central midfield against Doncaster, Notts County and Sutton, but the emergence of Nnamdi Ofoborh as a midfield option saw him drop to the bench for the final five games of the season. Aguiar still had one year on his contract, but signed for National League York City in the summer of 2024, ending his three years at SN1.
