Signed on loan from Oldham in January 2018 after impressing on loan at Tranmere in the National League, Banks was a consistent presence in central midfield through the back half of the 2017/18 season.

Named the sponsor’s man of the match on his debut against Forest Green Rovers, having impressed in a deep lying midfield role, Banks also got forward well, scoring in three of his next four starts. Whilst the goalscoring dried up, Banks remained a key part of the side, although a red card for a late tackle against Chesterfield in February saw him spend a month on the sidelines.

At the end of the season, Banks chose to return to the now promoted Tranmere, appearing for them in both of Town’s victories over Rovers the following season
