Swindon signed diminutive forward George Barker from Brighton in January 2014, for an undisclosed fee. Barker had played under Luke Williams during his time on the Sussex coast and he signed an 18-month contract, but failed to make an impact during his County Ground stay, starting just three games.
By October, he was loaned out to League Two Tranmere, and he would only play one more game after that, as a substitute when Swindon rested several players at Preston just before the play-offs. Barker was released at the end of the season, and it proved to be the end of his time in the Football League.
