A striker signed on transfer deadline day in January 2011 for an undisclosed five-figure fee from Torquay, after top scorer Charlie Austin was sold to Burnley - Benyon made his debut in a 1-1 draw against Rochdale on 5th February, scoring the Town's equalising goal in the second minute of injury time. In just his third match though, Benyon limped out of a home defeat against Carlisle in the first half with a hamstring injury - and by the time he returned three weeks later, the man who signed him, Danny Wilson, had resigned with Swindon struggling in the relegation zone. New boss Paul Hart preferred a strong targetman up-front in a 4-5-1 formation - a system very much unsuited to Benyon's style of play - and he made just three starts under Hart, two of which Benyon played in an unusual position on the wing.
After Hart was sacked having been unable to prevent the Town's relegation, caretaker boss Paul Bodin named Benyon in his starting eleven for the final game of the season - a 2-0 victory over Tranmere - less than a month later though, rather bizarrely, Benyon agreed a season long loan to his hometown club Wycombe Wanderers in League One - rumours rife that Wycombe wanted him on a permanent deal, but they couldn't meet the Town's asking price.
