Young Pinehurst goalkeeper who was approached to play for the Town's 'A' team in an Hellenic League match at Bicester in September 1970 - and after giving a promising performance despite a 4-1 reverse, Davies was asked to return for the fixture against Henley the following week, but he had to refuse due to university commitments, a chain of events that led to the debut of a certain Jimmy Allan. After university, Davies became a teacher in Southampton, and won the Southampton and District League as player-manager of Old Edwardians in the mid-1970s - before leaving for Asia and featuring for the British Hotspurs in Singapore, where he would win the Singapore Cricket Club Veterans Seven-a-Side Tournament against an International All-Star team featuring the likes of Trevor Brooking and Geoff Hurst.
