A former schoolboy international, Denyer was signed from West Ham in 1914. He stayed at the club for sixteen years - his career being interrupted by the First World War, when he saw service with the Sportsman's Battallion in France and West Africa.
A right winger, Denyer provided many of the accurate crosses that helped Town legend Harry Morris break the Town goalscoring record.
His son, Bertie Jnr, also played for Swindon between 1946 and 1948.
