Unable to break into the Wolves first team, English youth international Eastoe joined Swindon in November 1973 for a club record fee of £88,000 - after a successful loan spell which saw him average a goal every other game, including a brace on his debut. Part way through this loan spell, the manager who brought him to the club, Les Allen, resigned - but the returning Danny Williams had seen enough to sign him - no doubt impressed with his skill, determination and great aerial prowess.
Though Eastoe's goals were not enough to keep the Town up that season, in Division Three he was a revelation - banging home 31 goals as Swindon challenged for promotion, and elevating Eastoe to hero status at the County Ground. Unfortunately, they fell six points short of this target, and Eastoe's goals had alerted the attention of the bigger clubs.
The 1975/1976 season was less successful for the Town, and Eastoe left for First Division Queens Park Rangers before the end of the season, in a part-exchange deal which brought Town legend Don Rogers back to the club.
