A Welsh under-23 international, Emmanuel joined Swindon in July 1981 from Bristol Rovers, in an exchange deal which took fans' favourite Brian Williams in the opposite direction. Described as a midfield dynamo, Emmanuel's time at the club coincided with one of the least successful periods in the Town's history, as they sunk to the Fourth Division for the first time.
His creative play was a regular feature in the Town side until 1984, when he returned to Wales to join Newport County.
