The first half of the 2023/4 season saw a lot of involvement from the STFC academy in first team games, particularly in the Football League Trophy, but Harry Gray wasn’t even a scholar and was still part of the U16 squad when he was introduced as a second half substitute in Town’s 5-0 loss to Reading. He also appeared in the FA Cup as Town humiliating exited the competition conceding 7 against Aldershot: Gray will no doubt note that Town won 4-1 whilst he was on the pitch, but the six goals already conceded represented quite the mountain to climb. He was introduced at the end of the season as one of the new group of first year scholars, so has two further seasons before he even becomes a professional at the club.
