Signed on loan from Manchester United on 18th August 2005, in a double deal that also saw goalkeeper Tom Heaton join the Town, Heath made his debut on the right side of midfield in a 0-0 draw at Blackpool two days later. His one and only goal for Swindon came on his home league debut the following week, when he finished a well-worked move to score the Town's third in a 4-2 victory over Yeovil.

Coming from Old Trafford, much was expected of Heath, but his performances never really lived up to those expectations - just three games after that goal, he was relegated to the substitute's bench. When Iffy Onuora was installed as manager at the end of September, Heath regained his place in the starting line-up, but the return was shortlived - when he failed to shine in Onuora's first four matches (the last two of which Heath was substituted in), he again found himself on the bench.

Heath made just two more starts for Swindon, both in cup competitions - firstly in the FA Cup, when a number of injuries led to him starting as a striker in a home tie with Boston, then in the LDV Vans Trophy, when he was substituted in a defeat at Peterborough. By now, with eight loan players on the books, and only five allowed to participate, Heath was surplus to requirements - even failing to regain his place after a four goal haul in an 8-0 reserve victory over Swansea - and he returned to Manchester in January 2006.
