Jackson wasn't relieved of his wartime duties until October 1947 - two weeks later he signed for Swindon.
He had to wait sixteen months for his league debut, during which time he married Philomena Page, the manager's daughter.... Louis obviously didn't think much of him though - he only made a total of four appearances, scoring one goal, before he left to rejoin Tranmere in April 1951.
