A Liverpudlian striker signed by Town from Morecambe in June 2017 after relegation to League Two, Mullin had significant League Two experience with the Shrimpers where he had been a regular but not prolific scorer for three seasons.

His Town career was a similar story - playing 47 games across all competitions, about half as a starter and half as a substitute, and scoring 10 times. Early on, it did seem like he might be a more regular presence on the scoresheet as he notched in both his debut away at Carlisle on the opening day and his second game against Norwich City in the League Cup, both with close range headers. He remained a consistent presence around the Town squad for the entire season, but despite his high workrate, with competition from Luke Norris, Kaiyne Woolery and later Marc Richards, he was never the first name on the teamsheet. He scored his final Town goal on the last day of the season as Town thrashed champions Accrington.

Despite having another year on his contract, he was allowed to join Tranmere Rovers for a small undisclosed fee in the summer of 2018. Later, Mullin would belie his years as a ‘steady Eddie’ League Two forward to become a prolific one for Cambridge United - scoring 31 goals in the 2020/21 season, winning the League Two player of the year award and even (temporarily) having a stand named after him at the Abbey Stadium.
