A defensive central midfielder, Navarro decided to join Swindon on a two year deal in June 2012, after being released by Brighton, despite having offers from a higher level. He made his debut on the opening day of the season - ironically against Brighton in the Carling Cup - and it was a dream start, Navarro scoring twice against his former club, once more than he had managed in 85 appearances with the Seagulls!

Unfortunately, that was pretty much as good as it got for Navarro in his opening campaign. Having already suffered two major injuries with his cruciate knee ligaments, Navarro stated before the season started that staying fit was his biggest concern for the new campaign - and though he was in and around the starting eleven for the first two months of the season, he was stretchered off toward the end of a 2-2 draw with Coventry in mid-October, with initial concerns that he had suffered a recurrence of his old injury. A scan showed a medial ligament tear, which was initially diagnosed as at least a four week lay off - but it was New Years’ Day before Navarro was named again in the first team squad.

With the Town in superb form at the time, it was February before Navarro was given any game time - playing the first hour of a 1-0 win at Colchester for which the Town only had fifteen fit professionals - and, lacking in match fitness, he remained on the fringes of the starting eleven until the middle of March, only starting a 1-0 defeat at home to Bury. As the Town’s promotion challenge threatened to ebb away, new boss Kevin MacDonald recalled him to the starting eleven for a home game with Notts County, and he started the next four games - but four poor performances from Swindon saw them score just once and pick up just two points, a torn hamstring then sidelining Navarro again. Though he returned to the bench for the play-offs, he didn’t get on the pitch as the Town were knocked out by Brentford - ending a season that Navarro himself admitted was disappointing.

Over the summer, with the playing budget cut, there were reports that Swindon were ready to let Navarro leave - with Chesterfield and Port Vale rumoured to be interested in the midfielder. Navarro stated on social networking site Twitter that he was committed to Swindon unless they told him otherwise - and that he was “better than last season and want to prove it”. Unfortunately though, another knee injury, for which Navarro travelled to a specialist in London for injections, put a halt to his pre-season schedule.
