A giant striker, Onibuje signed on a initial three month deal after being released by Conference outfit Cambridge United at the end of the 2005/06 season, making his debut as a late substitute on the opening day of the following campaign, in a 1-0 win at Hartlepool. By the end of August, manager Dennis Wise had extended Onibuje's contract to the end of the season.

Though Onibuje made his full debut in a League Cup match against Brentford that the Town lost on penalties, he didn't make his first league start until mid-September, scoring in a 1-1 draw at Notts County. Up until this point, Onibuje's contribution had been limited to that of a substitute, used to change the threat up front if the Town were struggling - he got his chance in the side after usual front pairing Christian Roberts and Lee Peacock were struggling for goals.

Over the coming weeks, Onibuje found himself on the fringes of the first team, and though he caused problems in attack, he was often criticised for his lack of composure in front of goal, though he had surprisingly good control for such a tall player. His second Town goal came at Shrewsbury in mid-October - a match that proved to be Wise's last in control, as he left for Leeds - and also the beginning of the end for Onibuje's Town career.

Though he started the following two games under the tenure of caretaker manager Ady Williams, Onibuje never appeared again in a Swindon shirt - after new manager Paul Sturrock allegedly took exception to his attitude in his first training session, Onibuje was moved out on loan to Brentford just days after Sturrock's arrival, with a view to a permanent move. When he failed to impress at Griffin Park, Onibuje's return lasted just two more days, before another loan to Wycombe, which this time was made permanent in early January 2007.
