Alex Pritchard was one of Tottenham's talents loaned to Swindon in July 2013, as the midfielder joined up with fellow Spurs loanees Massimo Luongo, Grant Hall and Ryan Mason alongside former team-mate Nathan Byrne as Mark Cooper looked to exploit the loan market and the club’s link with Spurs in his first season in charge.

Pritchard made his debut in Town's opening game of the season at London Road as Peterborough ran out 1-0 winners courtesy of a Britt Assombalonga strike.

The loanee’s first goal for Swindon came away to QPR in the Capital One Cup in August as his late strike secured a 2-0 win for Town and their passage through to the third-round. He didn't have to wait long for his next goal as his sublime free-kick in front of the Sky cameras gave Swindon a 1-0 lead against MK Dons in early September.

By January, his impressive form had attracted attention from the likes of Huddersfield Town, Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers but he stayed for the remaining five months of the campaign with Swindon.

Pritchard was a mainstay in the Swindon side that finished 8th in League One, and after making 44 appearances the midfielder spoke of his fondness of the loan move at the end of the season, revealing that it has been a learning curve, stating: "In the reserve league, you're playing against the likes of Chelsea, where both teams play football. There are some tackles, but they're not strong. But then you come to League One and play against teams like Bradford, who just want to put it on the diagonal and it's a battle in the middle of the park. You've got to get used to it. It's totally different but I've loved every minute of it."

The 20-year-old picked up a reputation for being unable to contain his temper and this was epitomised when he picked up his first red card away at Bristol City following a push on Wade Elliott. Mark Cooper revealed that the youngster would have to "curb his temper", but Pritchard's time at SN1 was a success ending the campaign with eight goals and earning a nomination for the League One Player of the Year award.

Following his impressive loan spell, Spurs shipped him back out on loan with a number of Championship sides reportedly interested in Pritchard. He eventually ended up at Brentford where he once again impressed.
