Signed from Banbury on the last day of the summer transfer window in September 2022, tricky winger Roberts was a regular on the Town bench over the first half of the 22/23 season, making seven league substitute appearances, all inside the final 30 minutes of games. He made two starts in the Football League Trophy, but did not get on the scoresheet. When the January window rolled round, he was loaned out to Aldershot to continue his development, but made just two starts in the National League before returning to Town in March: by that point, Town were under new management and Roberts did not feature under either Jody Morris or interim managers Gunning & Mildenhall before the end of the season.

Despite being earmarked as one for the future when he was signed, he was surprisingly released at the end of the season, having clearly only signed a one-season deal and failed to earn an extension.
