Young goalkeeper who was one of nine youth team players who signed eighteen month professional contracts in February 2008, Scott went on a short-term loan to Southern League side Thatcham Town in August. After keeping a clean sheet on his debut at Truro, he conceded an early goal against AFC Totton in his second match, before being sent off following a defensive mix-up in a match that Thatcham went on to lose 5-0. On his return, Scott became an important part of the youth team that would go on to win the South West Division of the Youth Alliance - before a broken thumb sustained in a car accident early in 2009 sidelined him for a period. Despite this, and not having made a first team appearance for the Town, Scott was handed a contract extension in April 2009.
With the arrival of Polish keeper Jakub Jesionkowski as third choice stopper, he didn’t make the first team in 2009/10 - Scott again going out on loan, first to Hungerford, then Chippenham (where injury - initially suspected as a broken leg until X-rays revealed only severe bruising - restricted his playing time) and finally Banbury United, before he signed another year's deal at the end of the season.
Scott again went out on loan in 2010/11, this time to Supermarine, and he made history with Swindon's second club - helping them to reach the First Round of the FA Cup for the first time ever, he gave a superb performance in their inaugural appearance in the competition proper, being nominated for the Player of the Round award as Marine beat Eastwood Town 2-1. He missed out on a Second Round trip to Colchester though - Swindon recalling him to be available as deputy for their own league trip to Colchester in November. Though he appeared on the bench on fourteen separate occasions, he still didn't make his Town bow - and after signing a year's extension to his contract at the end of the season, the young keeper stated that if he wasn't at least the club's number two goalkeeper during the 2011/12 campaign, he wanted to go straight out on loan to another League Two or Conference level side - but surgery on a long-standing knee complaint sidelined him for the start of the new campaign.
