Midfielder Jesse Starkey arrived at Swindon from Brighton, with the connection then Head Coach Luke Williams from his time on the South Coast. The former Chelsea youth-teamer agreed an 18-month contract in January 2017 but didn’t get his chance until the final match of the season, at Charlton, by which time Swindon knew they were heading into League Two. His technical style failed to impress Williams successor David Flitcroft and Starkey was released in September, ending up at Gillingham.
