A young midfielder, Swift joined the Town on loan from Chelsea in January 2015. An England Under-21 regular, he fitted easily into a Swindon side flying high in League One playing a slick brand of football. After making his debut in a 2-2 draw at Fleetwood, he netted his first Town goal in a 3-1 win over Chesterfield at the County Ground - his passing ability standing out as he played a total of nineteen matches for the Town, scoring twice.

He made his final appearance for the club as a second half substitute of a 2-1 win at Sheffield United in the first leg of the playoff semi-final - Swift missing out on the second leg and the trip to Wembley due to a muscle injury.
