A Portuguese under-21 international, Tijane signed for the Town on a two year deal, with an option for a third in July 2013, despite offers from European giants Benfica and Europa League contenders Estoril from his homeland, and interest in England from Premier League sides West Ham, Tottenham and Stoke - Tijane opting for guaranteed first team football to aid his development.

Described by his agent as a left-footed, right-sided midfielder, and though manager Mark Cooper spoke of the language problems with his new recruit, Tijane impressed in his opening games for the club against Peterborough, Torquay and Stevenage, before a knee injury sidelined him. After an initial diagnosis predicted that he could be out until Christmas, Tijane appeared to be ahead of schedule in his recovery after a series of injections - but after a planned spell of rehabilitation at St George’s Park failed to materialise, he eventually opted for surgery to repair damaged cartilage at the end of September.

After returning to action in a development friendly in January, Tijane broke back into the first team squad the following month, making short cameos at Port Vale and against Colchester as he was slowly introduced back into the fold. In his third game back, Tijane came on with six minutes remaining of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Final against Peterborough - and when the tie ended all square, it moved straight to a penalty shoot out. Tijane stepped up for the crucial last penalty, needing to score to keep the Town’s hopes of a trip to Wembley alive - but he placed a terrible penalty well wide of the target.

Though he made substitute appearances in the Town’s next two games, Tijane made the squad on only three more occasions before the season was out - and over the following close season, he seemed to have mysteriously disappeared off the scene - boss Cooper finally revealing that he had left the club in September, stating that he had not seen Tijane for weeks.
