A much travelled forward, Birmingham-born Travers played for ten clubs in as many seasons around the time of the First World War.
He signed for Swindon after the hostilities ended in 1919, and played in the Town's final season in the Southern League. He scored fourteen goals, making him the club's second highest scorer that year, before moving on to Millwall In June 1920, where he stayed just four months.
