Winchcombe was a product of the Procision football academy before joining Town’s youth academy at the age of 11 alongside fellow Procision talents Anton Dworzak and George Cowmeadow. Initially a forward, left-footed Winchcombe had become a centre back by the time of his first team debut against Newport in the EFL Trophy, alongside fellow youth teamer Harrison Minturn and the more experienced Rob Hunt.

In March 2022, Winchcombe and Levi Francis became the latest Town youth players to join Chippenham Town on loan to gain experience of senior football - but neither player was offered a professional deal at the end of their scholarships.
